Call Center Operations has become one of the fastest growing yet volatile
industries around.  We at Childs Enterprises have first hand and current
experience in the establishment, operation and sustainment of one of the
most interesting and complicated Call Centers in operation.  Developed
for the US Navy, the call center in East Machias, Maine handles HR
Benefits processing for the entire civilian workforce of the US Navy.  
Begun as a pilot project in 2001, the program is now in its seventh year of
successful operation. Mr. Childs was the original designer and program
manager of the project, and supervised its operation for over six years.

Systems Engineering, while a new discipline, is a mature concept.  
Taking its beginnings from the 'Art of Operations Research',
systems engineering looks at the whole problem, not just the
surface appearance.  The techniques involved ask the tough
questions:  How will it work?  How is it to be supported?  What did
the user ask for? Dpes the product meet the specifications? Are
there any critical components? Is it reliable? What spares are
needed? How long will it last? How good is the documentation? etc.
