Childs Enterprises was formed in 1992, as a systems engineering and consulting firm. The
company has a reputation for flexible and responsive support to its customers stemming from a string of very successful projects in community development, training device development, and contact center creation. Over the years, systems refinement, product development, and program management tasks have been our primary contributions to the industry. Most recently we have been able to make inroads for job creation in the area of Call Center Operations. Done under government contract in a rural area of Maine, this effort resulted in the creation of 34 new jobs in the certified HUB Zone community of Machias, Maine.
WebStars of Maine is a web hosting and site design effort that has helped several small
local companies, find their way into the world of Internet Commerce. Intended as a not-for-profit
aid to the local chamber of commerce, it quickly grew into a lucrative venture. Still handling
some of the original accounts as a courtesy, WebStars is fading and will soon be put to rest.
Accommodore, also a division of Childs Enterprises, was formed in 2002 to develop a new
type of after-market boarding ladder for pleasure boats. The functioning prototype has now been
developed and installed on a private yacht and now awaits the patent process. Expected to be
complete by April, 2008, CE will then bring the product to market either though out sourced
contracting or by internal production.
